Re: Partitioning not working need primary key?
Dear Rick,
Ok I accept your one sentence regarding decimal based on you years of experience. I read the link you gave me regarding partitioning. Can I leave my current primary key as receiptID and then create an new unique key with the combination of receiptID,outletID and datetime too or should I just add both the outletID and datetime into the receiptID as a composite primary key? My key reason for using partitioning is more about space management because I find once the data is overdue of few months is best to remove it and keep it on separate db for archiving. Not to make you further saddened let me go n learn more about indexing which I agree is very powerful you have previously help me solve some of my issues too.
