Can't re-install server 5.5 on windows 7
Hi, I'm new to MySQL (but not DBs) and loved it. It installed on Windows 7 perfectly and I was soon up and running - until today. First all the users inexplicably disappeared from the users table in the admin bit. That was bad enough but then i decided to uninstall entire server and re-install again from scratch. All good until it came to start the server at the end, at which point it hangs and will go no further. I tried starting server manually and a host of other things - no joy. I see that many people on the web have experienced the same thing - freezing at the 'start service' item in the MySQL Server Instance Configuration wizard. Surely someone must know the solution. Help!!
