Re: Could not start the service MySQL. Error: 0
I had this same problem last night under windows.
Found a solution. After much uninstalling, scraching of head and re-installing.
Try this:
* Perform a custom install.
* When the page comes up that states the install directory being
"c:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL.... etc"
Select "Change" and change the directory to be something like:
"c:\MySQL\Server5\" make sure there are no spaces in the name.
If asked to select a directory for the data files select something like
"c:\MySQL\datafiles" or what ever.
Doing this solved all my problems. Service started fine after.
If you've already got an install running uninstall and delete the directories first (unless you still need your database!).
Regards,
Joshua.
