Connection Setup Issue

I was able to connect to a database set up via Lightsail without problems.
However when trying to connect to another similar database EXACTLY the same way, Workbench is unable to establish a connection, fails to Store in Keychain the password provided over and over again.
Furthermore I keep getting Failed to Connect to MySQL at... with 'Access denied for user'dbmasteruser'@;.... (using password: YES).
It's odd that such a simple thing has now taken up 2 hours of trying to work out what the issue is without finding a solution.
Using ' mysql -h ' I am able to connect with the very same credendtials/details from elsewhere. Is Workbench broken? Is this a bug?
Why can't I set up two working connections, only one?
