That link you mentioned doesn't apply to the MSI file that Oracle provides for MySQL windows installations. MySQLInstallerConsole.exe is an utility that first needs to be installed via that MSI file.

The OP is trying to pass arguments to the MSI installer to only install specific features. For some reason, Oracle decided to make this extremely difficult to do, if not impossible, from the MSI.

I'm in the same boat as the OP trying to install just the client files in a silent/unattended manner (so I can do this via Chef) and I'm not able to find anything in the docs or the web on how to achieve this with the MSI successfully. Heck, I'll even take installing the MySQL Installer utility from the MSI silently/unattended at this point, so I can then invoke it for doing the client stuff only.

Is there ANY WAY to perform a silent installation of specific features using the MSI? It's 2023 folks!
