Connect MySQL to an Excel Spreadsheet

I have an Excel spreadsheet with muiltple workbooks in it used by Multiple users. It constantly goes corrupt, even as a shared workbook.

It's a fairly complicated spreadsheet with a lot of formulas and fields.

I followed a couple tutorials on connecting it to MySQL using ODBC and the MySQL server, but it fails every time.

Do I need to create a MySQL database that matches all the fields on the spreadsheet?

I'm trying to avoid having to re-create the Excel spreadsheet in another program. I just want to use it as a front end. Any thoughts on how I might accomplish this?

Thank you in advance.
