At the end of a command many chunks of allocated memory are returned to the memory pool. As this is used by all threads, short waits could happen here. But they should not be relevant. It does not have anything to do with key cache flushing.
There are several levels of debugging. The undocumented states are useful for a lower level debugging than the user uses SHOW PROCESSLIST for.
