Re: Linking MySQL tables to MS Access error
I am experiencing the same issue when attempting to link from Access 2000 with a system DSN. I was attempting to link from Access 2000 in an effort to determine why I am unable to link from SQL Server. Originally I got an error while linking from SQL Server that said:
“Can’t connect to MySQL server on ‘localhost’ (10061)”
My production server has release of Connector/ODBC '3.51.07’ and is working OK fine. My development server has release of Connector/ODBC '3.51.10' and is not working.
I created a user DSN (which would not be acceptable in production environment) and was able to link from Access 2000 OK fine but when I try linking from SQL Server the error reads:
“The provider reported an unexpected catastrophic failure.”
It is unfortunate that my download of the earlier version was lost in a horrendous disk crash. I am now seeking out the release of Connector/ODBC '3.51.07’ to use until the ‘setup library’ bug is fixed.
