Re: OBDC connect slow with ASP

An old thread, but I have the same problem and I can't find any answer to it here.

I have Windows XP Pro with IIS 5.1 installed and MyODBC 3.51.6, 3.51.9 and 3.51.10.
I connect to the MySQL-server (located in another city) with System-DSN.

It worked great on my Windows 2000 with IIS and MyODBC 3.51.6. It just took a
second to establish the connection and then not even that when re-using the
connection the nearest minutes.

Now on Win XP.... If I press the test-button in the configuration for the DSN it takes
about 2 seconds to get a successful answer. But when entering a webpage that uses
this connection it takes 38 seconds. Then it works almost fine (just takes a few
seconds) if I re-use the connection within a minute or two. But if it's more then that,
it will take another 38 seconds. I had MyODBC 3.51.9 installed at first. Then I found
3.51.10 when looking for a solution, but it was the same result. Then I tried to use
3.51.6 as I had on Win 2000, but it's still the same slow connection.

I have MySQL 4.1.8-server installed, but not running and the service is set to manual
start. Could this have anything to do with it? Uninstall the server (I don't use it)?
But it should't cause any problem...
