database schema not available

I succeeded in getting the query browser to work but
it seems i always need to start the mysql commandline login my password then
the MYSQL query browser and MYSQL adminstrator can work. Is that normal??

By the way, Query browser complains I dun have a database schema. What is that?
Sorry I am a newbie...previously I used MS SQL server.
