I had been running MySQL 4.1.10a and was able to add and edit users with the Administrator client. I upgraded to 4.1.11 and then I receive the very same error: "Error while storing the user information".

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling 4.1.11 and the problem persisted. I then tried uinstalling 4.1.11 and reinstalling 4.1.10a since I thought it must be a version issue. The problem still existed after reverting to 4.1.10a.

Process of elimination brought me to uninstall and reinstall MySQL Administrator and the issue was resolved.

MySQL Administrator still errors with MySQL 4.1.11 even if I reinstall both of the apps so there must be an incompatibility between the two, but for those trying to get it to work on 4.1.10 I suggest trying a reinstallation of MySQL Administrator.
