The Installer checks the prerequisites for MySQL for Excel so if you did not have VSTO installed it should have prompted you so... it it did not and you can duplicate the problem please raise a bug in MySQL bugs for this.

Now that you have VSTO installed, try uninstalling MySQL for Excel and installing again.
If you copied manually any files those will NOT be removed during the uninstall progress so make sure you cleanup those.
