Hi Stefano,
Thanks for writing in our forums.

The problem you describe does not sound like MySQL for Excel is crashing.

If I understand correctly you did this:

1. Installed MySQL for Excel
2. Opened Excel
3. Opened the MySQL for Excel
4. Opened a connection to a MySQL server, selected a schema and then a table
5. Clicked on Edit MySQL Data with the table selected in previous step
6. Saved the Excel Workbook to a file
7. Closed Excel
8. Opened the saved Excel Workbook
9. Excel is opened, you can see your Workbook and the Worksheet containing the data.
10. You need to click on MySQL for Excel on the ribbon button to open the add-in and then you get a dialog asking if you want to restore your Edit Data session. If you click "Yes" then the session is restored.

You say the side bar did not appear, and I am assuming you did step 10.
I just tried these 10 steps and everything worked.

Please take a look at the application log to see if you see any exception logged there. The log is at "%APPDATA%\Oracle\MySQL for Excel".

Best regards.
