I have done exactly as you wrote in your example and tested it for hours.
When a deadlock occurs, I check the what the marker's value. It is always the same, the one set just before the SAVEPOINT is set. But checks show that sometime it does roll back to the start of the savepoint and other times it rolls back the complete transaction.
So in my test server this does not work.
But thanks anyway :)
