Great! Yes, please give them a try - Holyfoot just commited fixes for all bugs that have been reported against the new functionality so far. See this Wiki page for more info: http://forge.mysql.com/wiki/GIS_Functions

The preview packages don't include these fixes yet, however. Currently one has to compile from source to get the latest code - I hope we can get updated preview builds soon.
