help. I have tried every suggestion on this board and more with no luck. Here is the list of changes I have made. I am regularly restarting the Apache server after making changes with no luck. I have very little experience with PHP and none with MySQL. I am just trying to install phpMyAdmin on my local test server so that I can create a test environment for WordPress templates. Any suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Here is what I have tried:
changed config.inc.php to designate $cfg['Servers'][$i]['socket'] = '/tmp/mysql.sock';
chnaged socket in php.ini to mysql.default_socket = "/tmp/mysql.sock"
chnaged socket in php.ini to mysql.default_socket = /tmp/mysql.sock
changed php.ini - left blank mysql.default_socket =
added /r designation for Mac when using setup.php

Changed hostname 'localhost' with '127.0.0.1'
Changed hostname 'localhost' with http://192.168.1.129/
