I wont be able to try this untill later on so hopefully it will work then.

I'm wondering though if it is just a conversion of the = symbol that causes the problem and if so, what the symbol is to convert it back from utf to latin?

Just a bandaid solution though, still, I must say that i am really impressed with the MySQL thing as a whole.

Coming from a strict MS Sql background, you could safely say, that even with this little hick-up, I'm converted and shall now shout the message form the roof tops !!
