Re: Problem Fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or rather, in the case of MySQL 5.0 which I use:
;C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin
In Vista: System control panel, click "Advanced system settings" on the side, and in the Advanced tab at the bottom click the "Environmental Variables..." button. In the pop-up window, scroll down the list of System Variables to highlight "Path" and click "Edit...". hit the End key (or just put cursor at the end of the list), add a semicolon separator, and add the path mentioned above to the MySQL executables, such as:
;C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin
Click OK on every box to close them.
Not a fix for me, but useful for using the commandline tools, rather than having to navigate there every time.
For me, the log file indicated the InnoDB log files didn't match in size, so the service terminated.
To fix, I followed a recommendation to remove the log files from the data dir:
ib_logfile0 and ib_logfile1
as well as the file "ibdata1".
On restarting the service, the files are recreated afresh with no conflicts, so the service stays up.
