Slow connection, urgent!

Hello friends,

I have an urgent problem, i am developing our gyms CRM system with
bookingsystem, login terminal and member crm system. Until last month
we used Microsoft Access. 2 systems connected trough LAN to the main
computer where the db where. Kind of slow but ok and worked fine.

Tomorrow 1 october we launch Internetbooking, and with that a migration
from access to mySQL. The program is developed in Visual Basic 6.
In my developmentsystem it worked well, fast and with no problem.
But here at the end user computer its terrible slow!! Ok the system runs
on windows xp, 2.4ghz, 256ram (upgrading SOON!).

For instance with access, loading all membersinfo in a list took like 10 sec
before takes now at least 1 minut! Everything is slow. ALOT slower than in
my testcomputer. Is it because of RAM, the code or some setting?

What are the best way to take action? Its almost not workable in this speed..
And i must fix it during this weekend or go back manually and solve the system.

Do i need a dedicated server? Why? because the workload should be better now
than before so i cant figure out why its slow.
Some information you need to help me, just ask or tell me what to to.

Tired hugs and kisses..
A looong night and weekend ahead of me.

Sincerely
Nicklas Forsberg
