I don't understand why you point me to the Percona product site.

Seems that the link you provided is about:

1) Servers with a lot of RAM (I have Oracle MySQL 8.0 on a desktop PC with 8Gb)

2) Percona's specific innodb_lazy_drop_table option, which is not MySQL standard.

3) This discussion is from 2011, so I assume that there have been enhancements and changes in the MySQL code that can affect CREATE TABLE / DROP TABLE perfs.
