I did not reproduce mysql 8.0.24 et=2m.11sec. Execution time on an ancient machine with a hard disk was 30 secs, less than ome third of your time.

The actual insert speed from 5.7 to 8.0 remains the same, as one would expect.

Your "experiment" reflects the fact that each successive MySQL major release does more. Publish away.
