Hi I am using hibernate and mysql. I am new to MySQL. I am getting the following Exception: Communication failure during handshake. Is there a server running on localhost:3306?

I tried all of the solutions provided with this thread. mySQL version is 5.x. I am using the following jars.
mm.mysql-2.0.4-bin.jar
mysql-connector-java-3.0.16-ga-bin.jar
mysql-connector-java-3.1.6-bin.jar
i ve tried with mysql-connector-java-3.0.17-ga-bin.jar too.

can anyone help me at this point?
