You Rock! Although I don't use Macromedia but the theory works for me.

I'm using mySQL 5 and putting that "mysql-connector-java-5.1.5-bin.jar" file in my
WEB-INF/lib directory under my webapp works.

For those who are still having trouble with this, if you are running tomcat 5.5, you can create the lib directory under the ../Webapps/WEF-INF/lib and just throw that jar file mentioned above into the directory and restart the webservice and it should work.
