Re: Error:0 cannot create windows service for MySQL

This appears to be an issue when there has been a previous version of mysql installed which has created a service named 'mysql'. If you choose the name 'mysql' when installing 4.1.7, then the installer chokes as there is already a service with this name.

For NT based systems, the mysql service can be removed manually using an NT resource KIT tool - SRVINSTW.exe.

Go to http://www.dynawell.com/support/Reskit/winnt.asp and download the utility listed under 'Service Installer'. The zip file conatins SRVINSTW.exe which can be used to remove the service named - 'mysql' - be careful!

This should sort out the 'Error:0 cannot create windows service for MySQL' issue.

Hope this helps out.

Tim.
