Solution using MySQL Administrator

Hi,

here's the solution using MySQL Administrator:

under 'Startup Variables':
-Select the 'Security' tab
-Check the option 'use old passwords'
-Apply the changes
-Restart the server.

under 'User Administration':
-Select your user (ex: 'root')
-Retype your password in the login area
-'Apply changes'
-Restart the server.

worked for me, hope it does for you... would be nice to have this fix in the next php release though...
