suddenly, the problem could be not in the foreign key, but in the field u are using.
Please, check twice for exemple, if u are using index as int, that the index u are using and the one u are trying to connect with the fc has the SAME dimensione.
ex int(10).
If for example one of them is int(10) and the other is int(11) you will receive exactly this error
