hi guys..im also having the same problem.can you check this script and tell me whats wrong?thanks...

im not sure what data type to specify in the referenced field 'deptId'..

CREATE TABLE Departments (
deptId SERIAL,
deptName varchar(50) NOT NULL,
PRIMARY KEY (deptId)
) engine=InnoDb;

CREATE TABLE Instructors (
instructorId SERIAL,
deptId bigint,
lastName varchar(30) NOT NULL,
firstName varchar(30),
middleName varchar(30),
PRIMARY KEY (instructorId,deptId),
CONSTRAINT Instructors_Departments_fkey FOREIGN KEY (deptId) references Departments (deptId) ON UPDATE CASCADE
) engine=InnoDb;

please help...
